01
What is a prime-rated diesel generator?
A prime-rated generator is intended to provide electrical power for an unlimited number of annual operating hours under a variable load, within the engine manufacturer's rating definition and maintenance requirements. It should not be selected from the standby rating when regular use is expected.
02
Prime power for remote and industrial sites
Common uses include construction, agriculture, remote facilities, industrial operations and sites with an unstable utility supply. The average load, peak load, daily running hours and load variation are central to selecting a suitable engine and alternator.
- Open or acoustic generator configurations
- Extended-run and external fuel systems
- Manual or automatic control arrangements
- Project-specific electrical protection and accessories
03
Plan for fuel, servicing and load profile
Regular operation makes fuel capacity, filtration, service access and maintenance intervals especially important. Generators should also operate within an appropriate load band; prolonged light loading can be harmful to some diesel engines, while sudden load steps can affect voltage and frequency stability.
